"Omni Chang'an" is a new work by renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou, whose films—including Red Sorghum, Ju Dou, Raise the Red Lantern, Story of Qiu Ju, To Live, Not One Less, and The Road Home—have won numerous domestic and international awards and received three Oscar nominations and five Golden Globe nominations. Directed by Zhang Yimou, this resident performance masterfully fuses tradition and the future, culture and technology, leaving countless audience members in awe with its "breathtaking visual experience" since its debut.

The entire performance is composed of creative segments—"Harmonious Resonance," "Rainbow Garment Dance," "Shadow Puppets," "Vast Universe," "Chang'an," "Reunion," "Symbiosis," "Legends," and "Shared Brilliance"—each differing in style, concept, and dimension. On stage, cultural heritages such as Qinqiang Opera, Xinggu Drum Performances, the Rainbow and Feather Garment Dance (a Tang Dynasty classic), Huayin Laoqiang (a Shaanxi folk opera), rod puppetry, dough sculpture, and Terracotta Warriors collide with cutting-edge technology to create stunning visual spectacles. Rapid scene transitions of lifelike historical settings allow audiences to step into the role of "time travelers," freely traversing between eras. Elements including opera, dance, music, acrobatics, folk customs, and martial arts interweave harmoniously, painting a vivid portrait of Chang'an—a city where tradition and modernity coexist.

This fusion reveals the creative team’s process: leveraging technology to delve into the treasure troves of traditional culture and folk arts, then re-encoding these elements through a contemporary aesthetic lens. When Terracotta Warriors dance in a digital universe, and shadow puppetry pierces through the screen, we witness not only the radiance of regional culture but also the vibrant vitality of cultural inheritance.
