Music Tours
China's musical traditions are learned by doing, and these programmes put ensembles and school music departments inside the tradition rather than in front of it. Workshops cover the guqin, the zither, erhu and pipa, Peking opera and Kunqu movement and vocal technique, and the folk repertoires of Yunnan's minority communities. The orchestral and choral programmes add a joint rehearsal and a shared concert with a local ensemble, which is usually the part the students remember.
Programmes run seven to ten days in Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Suzhou and Yunnan, and can be built around your ensemble's own repertoire. Groups of 16, 20 or 30 students travel with two accompanying teachers free of charge.
