Top Shows and Performances
Xi'an has the deepest evening repertoire of any city in China, and these programmes are built around it. The Tang Dynasty music and dance performance with a dumpling banquet is the long-standing standard; 'Song of Everlasting Sorrow' is staged on the water at Huaqing Palace and normally runs from April to October, which is why we substitute an indoor performance in winter. There is also a hands-on shadow puppetry and puppet theatre evening, the Tang-dynasty street performances along the Grand Tang Mall, and the city wall light show with the Yongning Gate ceremony.
Each item can be added to any Xi'an itinerary as an evening, or combined with the Terracotta Army and Huaqing Palace into a two-day programme. We book seats in advance and confirm the performance calendar against your travel dates, since some productions are seasonal.
