Morning — Departure & Shaanxi History Museum
Meet your English-speaking guide and professional driver at the hotel lobby at 8:30 AM, then drive about 15 minutes to the Shaanxi History Museum, where your pre-booked tickets are included and your guide assists with entry. One of China's most prestigious museums, it houses over 370,000 artifacts spanning from the Paleolithic Age to the Qing Dynasty, and its architecture blends modern design with Tang Dynasty motifs.
Late Morning — Guided Tour of the Core Galleries
From 9:45 to 11:00 AM, follow your guide through the Permanent Exhibition Halls, tracing the sweep of history from the Prehistoric and Zhou dynasties through the Qin, Han, and Tang. You will see pottery, jade, and early bronze tools, the standardized weights, measures, and weapons of the Qin, Han silk fragments, lacquerware, and Silk Road artifacts, and Tang tri-color glazed pottery (sancai), gold jewelry, and mural fragments. From 11:00 to 11:45 AM, visit the special exhibition halls, including the Hejia Village Hoard Gallery and the Tang Mural Paintings Hall, where your guide explains the stories behind the artifacts and the mineral pigments and gold leaf used in the murals.
