This is a 6-day corporate programme in Beijing and Suzhou for executive, sourcing and partnership delegations of 2 to 30 people. It opens with a working session at Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing's Haidian district, the innovation core of the capital and home to more than 20,000 high-tech enterprises. It then shifts south by high-speed rail on the Beijing-Shanghai line to the Suzhou Industrial Park, the first intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore — the agreement was signed on 26 February 1994 and the first phase broke ground on 12 May the same year on farmland beside Jinji Lake. The programme closes on a working plant floor in the advanced-manufacturing corridor that surrounds the park.
Suzhou is a sensible counterweight to a Beijing-only programme. The park has held first place in the Ministry of Commerce evaluation of national economic and technological development zones for nine consecutive years against a field of 229 zones, its jurisdiction area is about 278 square kilometres, of which the China-Singapore cooperation area covers 80, and gross domestic product reached RMB 400.2 billion in 2024 with growth of 7.0 percent. Three emerging clusters — biomedicine, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence — now account for close to RMB 450 billion of output value, sitting alongside the older electronics and equipment manufacturing base.
Two of the six days are deliberately cultural rather than industrial. The Forbidden City is used as a case in how imperial administration and hierarchy were organised, and the Mutianyu Great Wall as an infrastructure project that moved labour across a province. In our experience delegations that pair plant visits with a day of this kind return with a sharper sense of how decisions actually get made here. Every appointment is confirmed in writing before travel, and we never list a host as confirmed until the host has agreed.
The programme slots neatly into the autumn 2026 trade calendar: the 140th Canton Fair runs in Guangzhou from 15 October to 4 November, the ninth China International Import Expo in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November, and the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen on 18 and 19 November. What is the Suzhou Industrial Park and why visit it?
It is the first intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore, agreed in February 1994 and built on low-lying farmland east of the old city. It has ranked first among China's 229 national economic and technological development zones for nine consecutive years, and its industrial base covers electronics, precision equipment, medical devices, biomedicine, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence.
Can you arrange visits to specific companies?
Yes, within the limits of each host's visitor calendar. Send us the companies or sectors you want and we approach them directly. If a named plant cannot receive a foreign group on your dates, we substitute an equivalent operator in the same cluster and tell you before you travel — we do not present a substitution as the original.
How does the Beijing-Suzhou leg work?
It is a direct high-speed rail service on the Beijing-Shanghai line between Beijing South and Suzhou North, which opened with the line in 2011. You travel in the morning, brief in the park in the afternoon, and the cultural programme in Suzhou is a short walk from the canal.
What visa do delegates need?
Delegates attending meetings and plant inspections normally travel on a Chinese M (business) visa, and we provide the invitation letter. Beijing and the Shanghai-Suzhou corridor are also covered by the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy, which covers 57 nationalities at 65 ports and suits short inspection trips on a confirmed onward ticket.
Can the programme be shortened or extended?
Yes. Four and five day versions drop the Suzhou leg or the cultural days; a nine or ten day version adds a southern leg for the Canton Fair, the import expo or Shenzhen.

Morning — Beijing to Suzhou on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed line
Your guide and driver collect you from your Beijing hotel and transfer you to Beijing South Railway Station for the high-speed service on the Beijing-Shanghai line. The route runs south across the North China Plain through Tianjin, Jinan and Nanjing, and it is the corridor that links the capital with the Yangtze Delta, the industrial heart of the country. Suzhou North Railway Station, which opened with the line in 2011, puts you twenty minutes from the old city and ten minutes from the Industrial Park.
Afternoon — the Suzhou Industrial Park: a working briefing

Late afternoon — sector roundtable
The roundtable is shaped around your own sector. Typical formats are a 60 to 90 minute session with park investment staff on land tenure, utilities and registration timelines; a meeting with a company operating inside the park; or a supply-chain conversation covering the electronics, precision-equipment and medical-device clusters that sit within an hour of Jinji Lake. Delegations sourcing electronics or medical devices often use this session to shortlist the factory visits that follow.
Evening — Pingjiang Road and the Grand Canal
Suzhou is a Grand Canal city: the canal, inscribed by UNESCO in 2014, is still a working waterway here, and Pingjiang Road follows a Song-dynasty canal through the old city with stone bridges, whitewashed houses and small teahouses. Dinner is Suzhou cooking — sweet-savoury braises, river fish and the seasonal freshwater dishes the city is known for. Delegates who would rather keep the evening free can return to the hotel after dinner.

Appointments inside the park are subject to each host's visitor calendar and are confirmed in writing before arrival. Where a named company cannot receive foreign groups on your dates, an equivalent operator in the same cluster is substituted and the substitution is notified in advance.

Morning — inside a Suzhou plant
Suzhou runs China's second-largest manufacturing economy, and the Industrial Park concentrates the part of it that foreign buyers normally come to see: automation, electronic components, precision equipment, medical devices and new-energy components. The morning is spent inside one operating plant rather than at a showroom. You walk the production floor with a line manager, see the automation and quality-control stages, and take a question-and-answer session on lead times, tooling changes, capacity and the practicalities of onboarding a new customer.
The exact plant is matched to your sector and confirmed in writing before arrival, with a substitute named in advance if your first choice cannot receive a foreign group on the day. Visitors are asked for full names and passport details ahead of the visit for site access, and photography inside the plant is arranged with the host.
Midday — industrial upgrading debrief
Over a working lunch with your guide and facilitator, the practicalities are pulled together: how Chinese manufacturers in this corridor have moved from contract assembly towards design and system supply, what that has done to minimum order quantities and unit pricing, and which supporting services — industrial design, tooling, certification, bonded logistics — sit within the same park. Delegations that came for sourcing leave this session with a clarified shortlist; delegations that came for partnership leave with a view of who is worth a second meeting.
Afternoon — Lingering Garden and departure
Suzhou's classical gardens were inscribed by UNESCO as the Classical Gardens of Suzhou in 1997, with a further group added in 2000. The Lingering Garden is one of the four best-known gardens of the city and is the right closing stop for a working programme: a compact sequence of courtyards, corridors, rockery and water, built between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, designed so that every turn reframes the view. From the garden you are transferred to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station or to a Shanghai airport for your onward flight.

Company visits are subject to host approval and visitor-calendar availability. Names, nationalities and passport numbers of all delegates are required at least fourteen days before the visit so that site clearance can be processed.

Visit confirmations. Company and park visits depend on each host's visitor calendar. We confirm every appointment in writing at least 14 days before arrival and name any substitution before you travel. We never describe a delegation or a company as confirmed until the host has agreed in writing.
Delegate information required. Please send full names as they appear in passports, nationalities, passport numbers, job titles, sectors of interest and any non-disclosure requirements with the booking. Plant access and photography permissions are arranged from that list, and late changes can delay clearance.
Clothing and plant safety. Business casual with closed-toe, flat shoes is required for production-floor visits; some hosts issue visitors with a jacket, safety glasses and shoe covers on site. Photography is arranged with the host and is usually permitted in designated areas only.
Climate and timing. Beijing has a sharp continental climate — hot and humid in July and August, cold and dry from December to February. Suzhou is humid and mild most of the year, with spring and autumn the most comfortable seasons. Both cities are busy during the October national holiday and around the autumn trade fairs, so book hotel capacity early for October and November departures.
Payments and invoicing. Deposits are settled by bank transfer against a formal invoice; the balance is due before arrival. Alipay and WeChat Pay accept international Visa and Mastercard for incidental spending, and hotels and business districts take foreign cards.
