The existing Guangzhou business programmes look at the city from the exhibition hall inward - the Canton Fair, sourcing, supply chain management. This day looks at the same city from the water outward, which is a different and complementary question: once the order is signed, how does the goods actually leave, and what has grown up around that route.
Nansha is where that answer sits. At the geometric centre of the Greater Bay Area, it carries a national new area, a free-trade zone, a comprehensive bonded area and a Hong Kong-Macao cooperation platform at once, and it runs the busiest single port area in the region. The day moves from the district's geography to the terminals to the trade platforms behind them, and closes at the Canton Tower observation level, from which the river, the port approaches and the city that finances them are all in view.
Working terminals and bonded facilities are not open to general visitors and this itinerary does not claim entry to them. Site visits and corporate meetings can be requested; each is subject to the relevant organisation's approval and we will say so plainly when it is not possible.
Morning — south to the estuary
Nansha sits at the geographic centre of the Greater Bay Area, at the meeting point of four cities each with an economy measured in the trillions of renminbi, and roughly an hour's drive reaches a population of 87 million. Within 80 kilometres of it are eleven cities and five international airports. Your guide starts the day with that geometry, because everything else about Nansha follows from it — a district that was farmland a generation ago and now carries a national new area, a free-trade zone, a comprehensive bonded area and a cooperation platform with Hong Kong and Macao at the same time.
Late morning — the port, and what it moved last year
The Nansha port area handled 22.6 million TEU in 2025, a rise of 10.4 per cent, with foreign-trade boxes up 23.5 per cent to 12.6 million — the strongest single port area in the Greater Bay Area for several years running. It now runs 213 container services, 178 of them on foreign routes, and 153 of those run towards Belt and Road destinations. The terminal you will see most clearly is the fourth phase: the world's first fully automated terminal built for combined river, sea and rail handling. From Nansha the published transit times are four days to Southeast Asia and fourteen to Los Angeles, and the whole thing is anchored by a rail connection that moved more than 550,000 TEU last year, up 22 per cent.

Afternoon — cars, and the trade built on top of them
The port has the largest cluster of car-carrier berths in the country, and in 2025 more than a thousand roll-on roll-off sailings used it. Vehicle exports through Nansha reached 383,200 units, up 61.62 per cent on the year and second in China by volume; new-energy vehicles alone passed 150,000 units, more than tripling. That is the visible half. The less visible half is what the district has built around the trade: the comprehensive bonded area has been the country's largest cross-border e-commerce zone for six consecutive years, and Nansha's total foreign trade reached RMB 295.99 billion in 2025, up 13.2 per cent and close to a quarter of Guangzhou's whole. Your guide walks you through how a bonded area actually works — how goods sit, how duty is deferred, how a returns channel is administered — using the district as the example.
Late afternoon — the estuary from above
You finish back in the city at the Canton Tower, whose observation level is included in this programme. It is a useful last position: you have spent the day at water level looking at what leaves the Pearl River Delta, and from the tower you can see the river, the port approaches and the city that consumes and finances it in a single sweep. Your guide closes with a short briefing on how Nansha's role connects to the wider Greater Bay Area plan, and then you are returned to your hotel.
On access, plainly
We do not promise entry to a working terminal or to any company's premises. Ports, bonded areas and factories all admit visitors on their own terms, by advance application, and often not at all. This day is built on what is publicly reachable plus the published figures; if your delegation needs a specific site, meeting or factory visit, tell us and we will approach it properly — and tell you if the answer is no.

Please read this before booking, because Nansha is working infrastructure rather than a visitor attraction. The day is a guided private programme across the district, with the terminal and trade figures taken from published official sources, and it finishes at the Canton Tower observation level, which is included.
It does not include entry to a working berth, a bonded warehouse or any company's premises, and we will not represent otherwise. Ports, bonded zones and factories admit visitors on their own terms, by advance application, and often not at all. If your delegation needs a specific site, an operator meeting or a briefing from a port or trade authority, tell us when you enquire and we will make the approach properly - including telling you if the answer is no.
Q: Is this tour private or shared?
A: It is a private tour. Only your own party travels with the guide and vehicle, so the pace and the order of stops can be adjusted on the day.
Q: What is the best season for this itinerary?
A: April to June and September to November bring the mildest weather and clearest light. The programme runs year round, and we adjust the daily timings in mid-summer and winter.
Q: Can you handle dietary requirements and accessibility needs?
A: Yes. Vegetarian, halal, gluten-free and allergy-aware menus are arranged when you tell us in advance. Step-free and low-mobility versions of the route can also be planned.
Q: How do we book and pay?
A: Send us your travel dates and group size for a same-day quotation. A deposit confirms the booking, the balance is due before arrival, and prices are guaranteed for 7 days.
