Beijing Walking Tours
Walking is the right speed for the old city. The hutong and lakeside route runs from Shichahai past the Drum and Bell Towers to Nanluoguxiang, through courtyards that have been lived in for centuries; the Temple of Heaven and Qianmen walk takes in the Ming altar where locals still practise tai chi at dawn and the restored commercial street that runs south from the square. The two-day version links the lakes, the hutongs and the old street grid into a single continuous route.
Distances are set to your group and the walks are on pavement and stone, so ordinary shoes are enough. Private departures with an English-speaking guide throughout.
