Johns Hopkins Respiratory Interventional Team Visits Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital for Academic Exchange

On March 3, 2025, a team of leading respiratory interventional medicine experts from Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA visited Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital (IMCXA) for academic exchange and cooperation discussion.

The delegation included Dr. Lonny Yarmus, DO, Dr. Jeffery Paul Thiboutot, M.D., M.H.S., and Dr. Christine Argento, M.D. Vice President Zhang Bin and President Wu Changgui of the Chest Hospital warmly welcomed the U.S. experts and delivered opening remarks.

During the symposium, both sides held in-depth academic sharing and discussions focused on the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary nodules. The U.S. experts delivered keynote lectures on topics including The Future of Transbronchial Ablation for Pulmonary Nodules, Innovations in Cryobiopsy Techniques, and Clinical Advances of Robotic Bronchoscopy Combined with Cone-Beam CT. Vice President Ouyang Haifeng from IMCXA's Chest Hospital presented a report on Single-Center Experience in Transbronchoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment of Pulmonary Nodules.

Northwest China's leading respiratory interventional physicians also joined the symposium, exchanging insights on improving surgical success rates, patient safety, and clinical applications of robotic bronchoscopy.

The U.S. experts toured IMCXA's Interventional Pulmonology Center, Hybrid Operating Room, Respiratory Intensive Care Unit, Sleep Center, and Pulmonary Function Laboratory, highly praising the hospital's advanced facilities and technical strength.

IMCXA is a pioneer in minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary nodules, with multiple first-of-its-kind innovations in China and globally. It is one of the few institutions in China capable of performing full-lung navigation transairway pulmonary nodule diagnosis and treatment with high diagnostic and success rates.

This exchange strengthened academic ties between IMCXA and Johns Hopkins Hospital, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration in respiratory interventional medicine. Both sides agreed to continue promoting technical progress and deliver more precise and efficient care to patients worldwide.
